If you love great food and local history, Ortegaās about to serve up both in one unforgettable spot.
A brand-new Southern-style restaurant called Oxford Place is opening this winter inside the historic Oxford & Corinthian Building at 2902 Corinthian Avenue. Built in 1923 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this building has been part of Ortegaās story for more than a century ā and itās about to start a flavorful new chapter.
Oxford Place will bring refined but relaxed dining to the neighborhood, blending approachable elegance with classic Southern dishes. Think New Orleans-style BBQ shrimp, blackened redfish with Hoppinā John, and even a grit soufflĆ© with bacon beurre blanc. Dinner service comes first, with brunch and craft cocktails following soon after.
The space ā a full renovation of the old Simply Saraās and Fondaās Hairstyling building ā features 120 seats, a full bar, and a design that mixes original 1920s architecture with modern comfort. The renovation, led by Adler Interior Design, restores those tall windows and high ceilings Ortega locals know and love.
Itās the latest project from Hughes Brown and Jerry Brown (no relation! š) ā the local father-and-son team behind Bold Birds Hot Chicken in Murray Hill and the former Watermark restaurant in Nashville. Theyāre bringing that same passion for hospitality home to Ortega.
āWeāre not just opening a restaurant ā weāre bringing new life to a building with deep roots,ā said Jerry Brown.
As a longtime local Realtor and neighbor, I love seeing this kind of thoughtful growth ā preserving history while adding new energy to our communities.
Oxford Place is set to open this winter, and I have a feeling itāll quickly become a neighborhood favorite.
